UEFA Euro 2020 will be the 16th edition of the European Football Championship. As 2020 marks the 60th anniversary of the tournament, the competition was originally scheduled to take place in 12 European cities between 12 June and 12 July 2020, but was postponed to 11 June – 11 July 2021 due to COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.
The Italian Football Federation has requested the postponement of the 2020 European Championship to allow time for the end of the Serie A season, which has been suspended due to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.
13 stadiums were selected and announced on September 19, 2014:
Final and semi-finals: London (England)
Quarterfinals and group stage: Munich (Germany), Baku (Azerbaijan), Saint Petersburg (Russia), Rome (Italy)
Round of 16 and group stage: Copenhagen (Denmark), Bucharest (Romania), Amsterdam (Netherlands), Dublin (Ireland), Bilbao (Spain), Budapest (Hungary), Brussels (Belgium), Glasgow (Scotland)
Of the 13 stadiums, eight have never hosted a European Championship in the past: Baku, St. Petersburg, Copenhagen, Bucharest, Dublin, Bilbao, Budapest and Glasgow. Of the 13 countries, seven have not hosted a European final in the past: Azerbaijan, Denmark, Hungary, Romania, Ireland, Russia and Scotland. Of the 13 stadiums, only two have hosted a European final in the past: Stadio Olimpico and Amsterdam Arena. The original Wembley Stadium hosted the matches and the final of the 1996 European Championship, but although it is in the same place, it is considered a different stadium from Wembley Stadium.
The cities of Brussels, Bilbao and Dublin have been eliminated. The matches were moved to Wembley, Seville and St. Petersburg. And Bilbao.
24 European countries have qualified to Euro 2020.
