My psycho-killer fiancé? Please, I've had worse. At least he paid for my meals.

Dexter is an American series that tells the story of Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall), a coroner who analyzes blood traces for the Miami Metropolitan Police Department, but is also a serial killer.
The series was first broadcast on October 1, 2006 on Showtime, and the fifth season began broadcasting on September 26, 2010. The action takes place in Miami, the first season of the series being largely based on the novel Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay, the first in his series of novels Dexter. Subsequent seasons evolved independently of Lindsay’s works. It was adapted for television by screenwriter James Manos, Jr., who wrote the pilot episode.
Dexter kills under “Harry’s Code,” a body of ethics and procedures developed by his adoptive father, Harry (who was a Miami police officer) to make sure Dexter is never caught and to make sure Dexter won’t kill only criminals. Harry also taught Dexter how to interact with other people even though he is a psychopath, from killing his mother, Dexter, to actually becoming a serial killer. As an adult, Dexter largely escaped suspicion (with a few exceptions) by being brilliant and generous and generally maintaining superficial relationships. However, his attachment to Deb’s sister, Rita’s half, his stepchildren, and (later) his biological son complicated his duplicitous lifestyle, which makes him wonder why he feels the need to kill.
